I love the sunrise lighting up the furnaces warming up in the morning.

Twin Cities Eats: Haute Dish
Haute Dish in Minneapolis: delicious biscuits and gravy, very cool restaurant (a little dark in the back, though, the only window is at the front). Extra points for a fabulous tile floor.

Plymouth Public Library
It's my new library! Or, one of my new libraries. I'm equidistant between Plymouth, Ridgedale, and Golden Valley where I live, so it just depends on where else I'll need to be as to which library I'll visit most often. Ridgedale may win out, mostly because it's by a Breadsmith, and their puffy pretzels are pretty darn wonderful.

Twin Cities Eats: Saint Dinette
I decided to start a post-blood-donation tradition that involved one of my favorite things: brunch!
It's a gumbo and biscuits and gravy mashup. And it's wonderful. The atmosphere was low-key, bright, quiet, and the food was tasty. I will definitely be back.

Twin Cities Fun: Majorie McNeely Conservatory
Pink lady slipper, Minnesota's state flower.
I can't get over how lovely it is in the sunken garden. Whether it's decked out for the holidays or in the middle of the summer, it's always stunning.

Christmas Day
Christmas Day breakfast, complete with blueberry buckle.
Scarf puppy!
Confirmation potatoes, jello dessert, wild rice, what else could you want?
I know. You're totally jealous. You should be. These are great.

A quiet Christmas Eve by the fire
Christmas Eve steaks on the grill.
Nicknames for the puppy:
Sous Chef
Sherlock puppy (the scarf! I can't even)
The puppy actually had a rough night: someone decided to put on a video of our dog that passed away from cancer in June, and the current puppy got really confused and upset when she couldn't find her anywhere: she wasn't in the kitchen, the hall, the living room, anywhere. She was clingy all night, and couldn't settle down or sit still. Poor pup.
The traditional yule log.
Reading aloud our Christmas books.
It's all about Boba Fett.
