My trip home was orchestrated to include a celebration for my dad's 65th birthday - and what better place to go than Lake Elmo Inn?
I think he's just a little excited about the cajun pork chops.
Wild rice risotto and seared duck. Heaven! (though the risotto was mostly arborio rice---I'm now trying to puzzle out how to make risotto that's all wild rice. Challenge accepted!)

Ornaments hung above the bar - a long-standing tradition where bringing in an ornament meant a free drink (now modified to canned goods for a food shelter because let's just say the entire room looked like this).
