Apple picking at Russell Orchards

We braved the Fluff Festival traffic to make our way north of the city to Ipswich, MA, for an afternoon of apple-picking at Russell Orchards.  And eat cider donuts, of course.

The only thing they were missing was a dusting of cinnamon sugar!  Without it, they come out of the fryer a bit greasy.  Tasty, but greasy.

We're clinking mini-apples here, ha.

It's a busy, more family-oriented orchard, meaning there will be lots of everyone running around.  If you're okay with that, this is a great option.  If not, Autumn Hills Orchard is still my favorite place to pick apples...sadly, there are no cider donuts there.

Russell Orchards also makes a bevy of different fruit wines, and when a case costs $10/bottle, well, what a steal!  I would say they're not quite as balanced as many grape-based wines, but they make wonderful sangria.

Apple picking visits (the dorm sponsors a trip most years to Honeypot Hill, and I've tagged along for the past few years)

I know, it's been such a bad semester for keeping things up to date! But, better late than never!
