A Saturday of Baking

Getting up early to go grocery shopping at 8 am (the not-so-wide aisles of Trader Joe's almost blissfully empty) - well, it fuels my daily felt temptation to bake.  Even with the god-I-hate-this-miniature-oven-I'm-just-going-to-use-the-one-down-the-hall blues, I baked the day away.  Well, after eating an orzo pasta salad with broccoli.

Nikki's Healthy Cookies, adapted by 101 Cookbooks.  I love the fact that all the sugar in these guys comes from bananas.  Brilliant.

Everyday Granola, from Everybody Likes Sandwiches.  Always delicious, and a great way to get my protein in the morning.

Orange Sour Cream Cake, from Baking Bites.  I used blood oranges and half almond flour to give it a almost Middle Eastern taste.  It's for the Murder Mystery party this evening, and it is making the hallways smell just sumptuous.

Chex mix for my birthday party.  Smells like Christmas.  You see, before my brother was born, my mom made pans and pans of the stuff for Christmas...smelled so delicious!  Then she'd spread it all on paper towels across all the kitchen countertops and bat our hands away from the grubby little hands trying to steal bits of delicious that were close to the edge.

Now, I'm just sitting with my feet up, thinking about food as everything cools.  The dishes are done, my hands are destroyed from the constant washing...so it looks like it's time for a TV show and some serious moisturizing.  I am pretty sure Ariadne Price-Evans did not have chapped hands.
